Plugside ("we", "us") is an app that helps EV drivers find and rate DC fast-charging
stops. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. Questions:
plugsideinfo@gmail.com.
The short version: we collect the minimum needed to score stops for you and
show community ratings. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't use third-party
advertising or tracking SDKs.
Information we collect
Location. With your permission, we use your device location to center the
map, find chargers near you, and estimate how long it'll take you to reach a stop (so we can tell
you what's open when you arrive). Location is used on your device; the map area you're viewing is
sent to our charger and map providers to load data for it. You can deny or revoke location
permission at any time in Android settings — the app still works with a default map view.
Account identifier. The app creates an anonymous account so
your preferences and contributions can sync — no name or email required. If you choose to sign in
with Google (optional), we receive your email address to link that account.
Content you submit. Ratings, quick tags, written comments, and
charging-session reports (e.g. "it worked", "broken stalls") you add about a stop. This is stored
on our backend and shown to other drivers as part of a stop's community rating.
Preferences. Your scoring weights, vehicle, and saved/recently-viewed stops.
These live on your device and, if you're signed in, sync to your account.
Push token. If you subscribe to Plugside+ and enable alerts, we store your
device's notification token so we can send updates about the stops you watch.
Subscription status. Plugside+ purchases are processed by Google Play. We
receive a purchase token and your subscription status to unlock features — we never receive or
store your payment card details.
Basic technical data. Standard, non-identifying logs needed to operate and
debug the service.
How we use it
Score charging stops personalized to your preferences and arrival time.
Show and aggregate community ratings, reliability reports, and photos.
Sync your preferences and saved stops across sessions.
Provide Plugside+ features (e.g. watching stops) and send the alerts you opt into.
Maintain, secure, and improve the app.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that make
the app work:
Supabase — our backend, database, and authentication.
Google — Google Play (subscription billing) and Firebase Cloud Messaging
(push notifications for Plugside+).
Mapping & charger data providers — OpenChargeMap, OpenStreetMap
(Nominatim/Overpass), OSRM, and our map-tile provider. When you browse or search the map, the
area or place you're looking at is sent to these providers to return results.
Your contributions are public
Ratings, tags, and comments you submit are shown to other drivers as part of a stop's
community rating. They are not shown with your name or email. Don't include
personal or sensitive information in reviews you wouldn't want public.
Your choices & deleting your data
Grant, deny, or revoke location and notification permissions in Android settings.
Use the app fully anonymously — signing in with Google is optional.
To request deletion of your account and associated data, email
plugsideinfo@gmail.com and
we'll remove it. (Aggregated community ratings that don't identify you may remain.)
Children
Plugside is not directed to children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and access to it is restricted. No system is
perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll change the "last updated" date above and, for
material changes, surface a notice in the app.
